Bio


Richard R. Andrews, MD, MPH, FASAM, is a board-certified addiction medicine physician and family medicine specialist with over three decades of experience in patient care, public health, and medical education. Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Andrews has dedicated his career to serving diverse communities, from rural migrant health centers in Virginia to immigrant and refugee populations in Houston, Texas.

For over four years Dr Andrews has worked with patients experiencing opioid addiction. But with this website and virtual medical practice he is focusing on patients who want more control over their use of alcohol. He is board certified in addiction medicine by the American Osteopathic Association and in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine.

A recognized leader in viral hepatitis care, Dr. Andrews serves as President of the Houston Viral Hepatitis Task Force, and previously co-chaired the National Task Force on Hepatitis B. His contributions to medical literature and education include numerous peer-reviewed publications, CME course development, and national conference presentations. In 2019, he was honored as a CDC Hep B Champion for his commitment to eliminating hepatitis B and liver cancer in the U.S.

Passionate about advancing addiction medicine and infectious disease care, Dr. Andrews continues to integrate evidence-based treatment, compassionate patient engagement, and physician education to improve individual and public health outcomes.
